The existing structure was built in 1860. To date, the structure has been utilized as a residence and has been kept in excellent condition. The existing structure on the site was built by Robert Love in a Gothic Revival farmhouse style of architecture that was characteristic of the time period in which it was built. 4. The structure is one of the few remaining original farmhouses in Danville. Robert Love's son, William G. Love, gave the Danville Board of Education land for both a grammar and high school, located on the land where San Ramon Valley High School is currently situated; and WHEREAS, Mark and Karen Davis, as property owners, support the Heritage Resource designation; and WHEREAS, the project has been found to be Categorically Exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Section 15308, Class 8; and WHEREAS, the Danville Heritage Resource Commission adopted Resolution No. 2004 -02 on May 10, 2004 in support of the Heritage Resource designation for 357 Love Lane; and WHEREAS, the public notice of this action was given in all respects as required by law; and WHEREAS, a staff report was submitted recommending that the Town Council approve the request; and WHEREAS, the Town Council did hear and consider all reports, recommendations, and testimony submitted in writing and presented at the hearing; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED the Heritage Resource Commission recommends that the Danville Town Council grant heritage resource designation for 357 Love Lane based on the following findings and Historic Preservation Ordinance criteria: The existing structure on the site was built in 1860, exceeding the minimum designation criteria to be over 50 years old. o The site is consistent with Section 32-72.4.a. and b. of the Danville Municipal Code, Historic Preservation Ordinance, in that it is a Gothic Revival farmhouse, distinct to the historical period in both architecture and use for which it was built, and is one of a handful of similar structures remaining in Danville. The site is consistent with Section 32-72.4.c. and e. of the Danville Municipal Code, Historic Preservation Ordinance, since the structure was built by Robert Love, who was a trustee of the Union Academy, the first school of higher education in the area which was built in 1860, and burned down in 1868. Robert's son, William G. Love, gave the Danville Board of Education land for both a grammar and high school, located on the land where San Ramon Valley High School is currently situated. The site is consistent with Section 32-72.4.g. of the Danville Municipal Code, Historic Preservation Ordinance, since the structure has been well maintained and retained its original historic detailing and integrity of materials that have not been substantially modified over time.
