HomeMy WebLinkAbout035-04RESOLUTION NO. 35-2004 AUTHORIZING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A "STREET SMARTS" TRAFFIC SAFETY PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN AS PART OF A TOWN-WIDE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Town of Danville recognizes that traffic safety poses one of the greatest threats to the quality of life of its citizens; and WHEREAS, the Town Council directed staff to develop a Town-wide version of the existing Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP); and WHEREAS, a public education campaign on traffic safety is one component of a Town- wide Traffic Management Program; and WHEREAS, the City of San Jose has implemented a "Street Smarts" Program, which is a public education campaign on traffic safety; and WHEREAS, the City of San Jose's "Street Smarts" Program marketing materials were developed based on extensive market testing and focus research; and WHEREAS, the City of San Jose has implemented a policy which authorizes the sharing of these marketing materials with other public agencies through the formation of a consortium; and WHEREAS, the cost participation in the consortium, and using the marketing materials from the City of San Jose's "Street Smarts" Program, is a one-time cost of $2,500 to re-brand the marketing materials; and WHEREAS, this one-time cost would enable the Town of Danville to access all future copy righted marketing "master" templates developed through the City of San Jose's "Street Smarts" Program; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council: 1. Authorize the participation in the "Street Smarts" Program consortium; 2. Approve the expenditure of $2,500 to re-brand the "Street Smarts" Program materials for Danville's purposes; and 3. Direct staff to select, and customize for an additional cost if necessary, the marketing materials for a Danville "Street Smarts" Program.
