APPROVING THE "SENTINELS OF FREEDOM PROGRAM -
OPERATION WELCOME HOME" IN THE TOWN OF DANVILLE
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville recognizes the valuable service military men and women
have historically provided maintaining our freedom and safeguarding our country; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville wishes to honor every member of the military from our
Town who has served overseas, been wounded in combat, completed enlistment and been
honorably discharged, graduated advance military training, or graduated from a military
academy; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville wishes to implement an ongoing program to formally
recognize their efforts; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Town of Danville formally adopts the "Sentinels of Freedom Program -
Operation Welcome Home" in the Town of Danville, whereby returning military men and
women are honored by the Danville Town Council; and, be if further
RESOLVED, that as part of this program, the Danville Town Council will honor these
individuals with a Proclamation in appreciation for their commitment in their service to our
nation and our people; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council encourages community groups, service
organizations, employers, and its citizens to join the Town in helping to welcome back our
service men and women, thank them for their service, and reintroduce them back to our
community; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council envisions this program, as a model to be adopted
by other towns and cities across the nation, as to the manner in which we display our gratitude
toward returning veterans.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on March 3, 2004, by the
following vote:
