AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE PROVIDER CONTRACTS
FOR EMPLOYEE MEDICAL INSURANCE AND SETTING MEDICAL PREMIUM
COVERAGE FOR 2004
WHEREAS, the Town provides medical benefits, including health and dental programs for
eligible Town employees; and
WHEREAS, the Town has elected to withdraw from the CaIPERS health care program in
order to offer medical insurance to its employees in a more cost effective mariner; and
WHERAS, the Town has determined that Kaiser and Health Net offer the best available
and most cost effective medical coverage for the Town's employees; and
WHEREAS, medical and benefit costs for 2004 will increase by 3.8%; and
WHEREAS, the Town has taken steps to effectively manage medical benefit cost increases
by negotiating contracts directly with care providers and modifying coverage and
deductibles offered; and
WHEREAS, the Town has fully budgeted for the cost of this program in the 2003-2004
Financial Plan as approved by the Town Council in June, 2003; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Town Manager is authorized to execute contracts with Kaiser and
Health Net for employee medical insurance for 2004; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the maximum medical premium coverage for participating employees in
2004 is set at: Single: $329.63, Couple: $656.40 and Family: $871.09; with individual
employee coverage to be based upon the plan selected.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on November 4, 2003, by
