AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURES FOR THE
DANVILLE FINE ARTS FAIRE ON JUNE 7 AND 8, 2003
WHEREAS, the Danville Fine Arts Faire is an annual event sponsored by the Danville Area
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, this event is supported and enjoyed by the residents of Danville and brings visitors
to downtown; and
WHEREAS, the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is requesting street closures in
downtown Danville for the Fine Arts Faire; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure the safety of the participants, it is necessary to close streets for
the event (Exhibit 1); and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce has requested an exemption from Danville Ordinance
No. 96-10 in order to allow consumption of alcohol at this event; and
WHEREAS, this event is a daytime family event with no history of alcohol-related incidents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Danville Town Council that the following streets will be closed between
2:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, and .11:00 p.m. on Sunday3 June 8, 2003, for the purpose of
conducting the Danville Fine Arts Faire:
1. Hartz Avenue between Diablo Road and Hartz Way;
2. Prospect Avenue between Front Street and Clocktower Parking Lot entrance;
3. Church Street between Hartz Avenue and Railroad Avenue; and
4. School Street between Hartz Avenue and Railroad Avenue; and, be it further
RESOLVED that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the consumption of alcohol at
this event in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 96-10, during the hours of 10:00
a.m. to 6:00 p.m. within the approved street closures.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on June 18, 2002, by the
following vote:
