HomeMy WebLinkAbout010-02RESOLUTION NO. 10-2002 ACCEPTING THE FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE DOWNTOWN PARKING. STRUCTURE FEASIBILITY STUDY AND DIRECTING STAFF TO EXAMINE OTHER OPTIONS FOR INCREASING THE DOWNTOWN PARKING SUPPLY WHEREAS, the Downtown Parking Task Force identified a future need of an additional 300- 500 parking spaces within the downtown; and WltEREAS, the Task Force recommended examining the feasibility of structured parking on either the Clocktower or Railroad Avenue Municipal Lot; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council hired the consulting firm of Gordon FI. Chong and Partners to examine the feasibility of constructing a parking structure on the Clocktower Municipal Parking Lot; and WHEREAS, a public workshop was held on November 8,2001 to gather public input into the process; and WHEREAS, the consulting firm conducted site analysis and developed a report of its findings; and WltEREAS, a second public workshop was held on December 13, 2001 to review the consultant's report; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council did review the report at its regular meeting on February 5, 2002; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council did hear and consider all reports, recommendations, and testimony submitted in writing and presented at the hearing; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED that the Danville Town Council accepts the findings and recommendations of the Downtown Parking Structure Feasibility Study; and be it further RESOLVED that the Danville Town Council directs staff to examine other options for increasing the downtown parking supply.
