CONTINUING TOWN PARTICIPATION IN TIlE "CONTRA COSTA - SHAPING
OUR FUTURE" PROJECT, AND APPROPRIATING $21,773 IN PROJECT
FUNDING
WHEREAS, in 1998, the Contra Costa'Mayors Conference initiated a process to develop a
future vision and growth management strategy for Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville has participated in this effort which has subsequently
included identification of vacant and underutilized land, meetings with stakeholders, selection of
a project consultant and development of a project scope; and
WHEREAS, the City/County Relations Committee of the Contra Costa Mayors Conference is
now requesting that all cities in Contra Costa County participate in the "Contra Costa - Shaping
our Furore" process and support a portion of the project costs at a rate of $0.60 per capita; and
WHEREAS, all cities who participate in this effort will be represented on the project Policy
Committee consisting of elected leadership throughout Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, the pressure for continued uncoordinated growth and urban sprawl threaten the
overall quality of life in Contra Costa County, potentially adversely impacting Danville and its
residents, and
WHEREAS, emphasis upon comprehensive planning, managing growth and emphasizing
"quality of life" embody the precepts contained in the Danville 2010 General Plan, and reflect
long-standing Town policy; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council authorizes and endorses the Town's continued
involvement in the "Contra Costa - Shaping our Future" process, and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Town Council appropriates $21,773 to fund the Town's portion of the
total project cost.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on October 2, 2001, by the
following vote:
