AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURES FOR THE DANVILLE HOT SUMMER
NIGHTS CAR SHOWS ON JULY 12 AND 26 AND AUGUST 9 AND 23, 2001
WHEREAS, the Danville Hot Summer Nights Car Show is an event sponsored by the Danville
Merchants' Association; and
WHEREAS, in order to produce a safe event, the following event conditions will be applied:
1o The Association will conduct a pre-event briefing with all establishments selling alcohol
and notify them that a "zero tolerance" policy will be in effect during and after the events
for overcrowding and serving of minors.
2. The Association will hold meetings with the business community and the Danville Police
Department to discuss Alcohol Beverage Control Board laws.
3. The Association must commit to providing 36 volunteers or paid staffper event.
4o The Danville Police Department will specify the minimum number of private security
personnel to be hired and their deployment.
5o The Association will assign a representative responsible for decision-making to the
command post during the entire event°
WHEREAS, in order to ensure the safety of the participants and to protect the show cars in the
car show, it is necessary to close streets for the event (Exhibit 1); now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the following street closures
for the Danville Hot Summer Nights Car Shows:
On July 12, July 26, and August 9, 2001, between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
1. Hartz Avenue between Linda Mesa Avenue and School Street; and
2. Diablo Road between Hartz Avenue and Front Street; and
On August 23, 2001, between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
1. Hartz Avenue between Railroad Avenue and School Street; and
2. Diablo Road between Hartz Avenue and Front Street
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on June 19, 2001, by the
following vote:
