HomeMy WebLinkAbout038-01 RESOLUTION NO. 38-2001 CONCERNING ENERGY REDUCTION EFFORTS WHEREAS, on February 6, 2001, the Danville Town Council committed to reducing energy consumption by 7% due to California's energy shortage; and WHEREAS, the Town has successfully implemented measures to conserve energy as outlined in Resolution No. 6-2001 adopted by the Town Council on February 6, 2001; and WHEREAS, it is now necessary during warm spring and summer weather to augment those measures; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville will implement the following measures to further conserve energy during spring and summer months: 1o Setting thermostats at 75 degrees at Town offices and facilities; 2, Installing attic ventilation fans; 3, Exchanging air out at coolest time ofthe moming; 4. Implementing a business casual dress code for office personnel and summer casual for field personnel; 5o Scheduling recreation classes earlier in the day to avoid afternoon heat; 6. Installing honeycomb single cell blinds with reflective interior shells in areas of the Town Offices with the most severe sun exposure, These blinds are 70% more heat reflective than normal mini blinds. If successful, the Town will consider gradually installing these blinds on the east side of the building° 7. Replacing one of the large air conditioning units on the south side of Town Offices with a more energy efficient AC unit with the Energy Star approval label. RESOLVED, that the Town of Danville does take this action in suppotting energy conservation during this energy crisis with the understanding that the State of California through the Legislature and the Governor' s Office will find a long-term solution to the California electrical energy situation.
