HomeMy WebLinkAbout090-00 RESOLUTION NO. 90-2000 AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN CORRESPONDENCE REPRESENTING THE TOWN COUNCIL'S POSITION ON CURRENT LEGISLATION WHEREAS, the State Legislature in recent years has significantly impacted local government revenues; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Town of Danville to take a position on legislation affecting the vital interests of the Town; and WHEREAS, approval of the positions outlined in Exhibit 1 will initiate a response on behalf of the Town Council in support or opposition of specific legislation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council authorizes the MayOr to sign correspondence representing the Town Council's position on legislation described in Exhibit 1. APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on July 5, 2000, by the following vote: AB 1968 AYES: Greenberg, NOES: Shimansky ABSTAINED: None ABSENT: None Doyle, Arnerich, Waldo Board of Equalization Sales Tax Audit Procedure Revision AYES: Greenberg, Doyle, Arnerich, Shimansky, Waldo NOES: None ABSTAINED: None ABSENT: None MAYOR APPROVED AS TO FORM: CITY ATTORNEY ATTEST: Current Legislation - 2000 Session (July 5, 2000) SUBJECT AB 1968 Land Use: Regional Impacts Board of Equalization Sales Tax Audit Procedure Revision DESCRIPTION Authorizes cities and counties to enter into an agreement to plan to address land use issues on a regional level. Provides funding to support such efforts. Changes statistical sampling methods which would result in forgiveness of up to 1% of tax underpayments, or using the lower bounds of the statistical confidence interval, resulting in lower required tax payments. RECOMMENDATION Support League of Cities position: Support Support League of Cities position: Oppose REASONS Encourages cooperative regional planning efforts to address regional problems.
