DIRECTING THAT DANVILLE'S REPRESENTATIVE TO THE SOUTHWEST
AREA TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE BE APPOINTED TO REPRESENT THE
SAN RAMON VALLEY ON THE CONTRA COSTA TRANSPORTATION
AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, the Southwest Area Transportation Planning Committee (SWAT) operates under
Rules of Procedure; and,
WHEREAS, the voting members of SWAT appoint from among themselves two representatives
to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (Authority); and,
WHEREAS, one Authority representative shall be selected from the San Ramon Valley cities
and one Authority representative shall be selected from the Lamorinda cities (both serving two-
year terms); and
WHEREAS, the Authority representative from the San Ramon Valley cities rotates between the
Town and the City of San Ramon; and
WHEREAS, the rotation was suspended because San Ramon (Hermann Welm, through the
Mayors' Conference appointment) and Danville (Beverly Lane and Millie Greenberg, through
the SWAT appointment) have simultaneously had elected officials on the Authority since 1993;
and
WHEREAS, Millie Greenberg (1) has extensive experience through service on the Authority
since 1994, including Chair of the Planning Committee; (2) is currently the Vice Chair of the
Authority; (3) has consistently represented San Ramon Valley goals and objectives as a member
of the Authority; (4) has consistently adhered to the policy direction of SWAT, in accordance
with the Rules of Procedure; and
WHEREAS, a new two-year appointment from SWAT to the Authority will commence with
February 2000; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Danville Town Council that Danville's representative to the Southwest Area
Transportation Committee, Millie Greenberg, be appointed to represent the San Ramon Valley
on the Contra Costa Transportation Authority for the two-year term beginning in February, 2000.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on February 1, 2000 by the
following vote:
