HomeMy WebLinkAbout115-99RESOLUTION NO. 115- 99 SUPPORTING THE EXTENSION OF THE SUNSET DATE FOR ABANDONDED VEHICLE ABATEMENT SERVICE AUTHORITIES WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 4114 created an opportunity for cities and counties to establish joint abandoned vehicle service authorities promoting the removal of abandoned vehicles within their jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, these cooperating agencies have shared revenues towards a mutual benefit for their jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, abandoned vehicles continue to be a source of concem and their continued removal will benefit the public at large; and WHEREAS, without the continued funding provided by the vehicle registration fees, the level of abatement activities would be significantly affected; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council strongly supports the continuance of this program and the Abandoned Vehicle Service Authorities; and be it further RESOLVED, that staff is directed to undertake such actions that may be required to assist the statewide legislative committee for abandoned vehicle abatement service authorities to promote legislation extending the sunset date.
