HomeMy WebLinkAbout071-99RESOLUTION NO. 71-99 SUPPORTING EAST BAY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT' S AMERICAN RIVER WATER PROJECT WHEREAS, water available from the East Bay Municipal Utility District' s (EBMUD) high-quality Sierra source, the Mokelumne River, is limited and EBMUD forecasts that in three out often years, customers will face water rationing; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville recognizes the critical need of EBMUD for a supplemental water supply; and WHEREAS, EBMUD has held and paid for its American River contract rights for more than 25 years with those rights decided through the courts, and those rights provide for protection of recreation and wildlife habitat; and WHEREAS, EBMUD customers have a long record of commitment to sensible water use and EBMUD continues to invest in reclamation and conservation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Town of Danville supports implementation of the EBMUD Amendatory Contract with the United States Bureau of Reclamation and near-term access to EBMUD' s long-held rights to American River water; and, be it, further RESOLVED, that the Town of Danville supports EBMUD's efforts to utilize its American River water as part of a joint project that provides the greatest benefit to the largest community of interest possible.
