AUTHORIZING CLOSURE OF STREETS FOR THE
LIGHTING OF THE OAK TREE ON NOVEMBER 26, 1999
WHEREAS, the Lighting of the Oak Tree is an annual event sponsored by the Danville Area
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, this event is supported and enjoyed by the residents of Danville and brings visitors
to the Town; and
WHEREAS, the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is requesting various street closures in
downtown Danville for the Lighting of the Oak Tree; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure the safety of the participants, it is necessary to partially close a
number of streets during the event (Exhibit 1 ); and
WHEREAS, the street closures for this event will be limited from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on
November 26, 1999; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that the following streets will be closed on Friday,
November 26, 1999, between 3:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., for the purpose of conducting the
Lighting of the Oak Tree:
1. Westbound traffic off Highway 680 at Diablo Road between the hours of 3:30 p.m.
and 8:30 p.m.;
2. West E1 Pintado and Front Streets at Diablo Road between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and
8:30 p.m.; and
3. Hartz Avenue and adjacent downtown side streets from Linda Mesa to School Street
between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on March 16, 1999, by the
following vote:
AYES: Arnerich, Greenberg, Doyle, Shlmans~~/
