AWARDING CONTRACT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE SEISMIC
RETROFIT OF THE BRIDGES ON LA GONDA WAY AT SAN RAMON CREEK
AND PARAlSO DRIVE AT SAN RAMON CREEK, CONTRACT NO. A-263
WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council approved the call for bids for the seismic retrofit of the
La Gonda Way at San Ramon Creek and Paraiso Drive at San Ramon Creek Bridges, Contract
No. A-263 on June 3, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 30th day of June, 1998,
publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the low bidder is William P. Young Construction, Inc. of Foster City, and the City
Engineer has recommended awarding a contract for the project to said firm; now, therefore be
it
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town award the contract for the Seismic
Retrofit of the La Gonda Way at San Ramon Creek and Paraiso Drive at San Ramon Creek
Bridges to William P. Young Construction, Inc. of Foster; and, be it further
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is
authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with William P. Young of Foster
City for $132,417 plus a 10% construction contingency of $13,241.70 for a total of $145,658.70
for work in connection with the Seismic Retrofit of the La Gonda Way Bridge at San Ramon
Creek and the Paraiso Drive Bridge at San Ramon Creek, in the form as lodged with the City
Clerk, together with such changes as may hereafter be determined necessary, provided such
changes do not materially increase the obligations to the Town thereunder, and to receive and
approve all bonds in connection therewith; and, be it further
RESOLVED, the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal
of the Town; and, be it fun:her
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that an appropriation be made in the amount of
$145,658.70 from the Capital Improvement Program's General Purpose Revenue Account to
provide sufficient funds to cover project costs; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall, within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution,
transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial Relations,
Division of Apprenticeship Standards. P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101. (Note: Should
a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to journeymen be made, the Town
shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of such findings.)
