HomeMy WebLinkAbout095-98RESOLUTION NO. 9S-98 AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD DEPOT RESTORATION AND REHABILITATION PROJECT, CONTRACT NO. A-214 AND ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FROM THE MUSEUM OF THE SAN RAMON VALLEY WHEREAS, the Town of Danville received grant funds from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the East Bay Regional Parks District and the Museum of the San Ramon Valley to restore and rehabilitate the Southern Pacific Railroad Depot; and WHEREAS, the Town Council has accepted and appropriated such grants and funds on behalf of the project; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council authorized and directed a call for bids for the Southem Pacific Railroad Depot Restoration and Rehabilitation Project on December 16, 1997; and WHEREAS, bids for the project were greater than net funds set aside for construction, and the Museum of the San Ramon Valley has committed $91,000 in additional funds to complete the project; and WHEREAS, the lowest qualified bidder is Taber Construction of Martinez and it is recommended that the project be awarded to said firm; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that the Town accept and appropriate $91,000 donated by the Museum of the San Ramon Valley for the Southem Pacific Railroad Depot Project, Contract No. A-214; now, therefore, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that the Town award a contract for the Southern Pacific Railroad Depot to Taber Construction of Martinez; now, therefore, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that the Town Manager be authorized to execute on behalf of the Town, a written contract with Taber Construction for $355,000 plus a 15% contingency of $53,000 for a total of $408,000 for the Southern Pacific Railroad Depot Restoration and Rehabilitation Project, in the form as lodged with the City Clerk, together with such changes as may hereafter be determined necessary, provided such changes do not materially increase the obligations to the Town thereunder, and to receive and approve all bonds in connection therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal of the Town; and, be it further RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution, transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, P. O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101. (Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of such findings.)
