AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE TASSAJARA AGRICULTURAL
PRESERVATION AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, on May 19, 1998, the Town Council authorized Danville's participation in
drafting an Agricultural Preservation Agreement for the Tassajara Valley; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville 2005 General Plan identifies the Tassajara area as an area
of special concern and directs the Town to work with Contra Costa County and the City of San
Ramon to develop a long-range plan for the area; and
WHEREAS, the lands within the Tassajara area are designated in the Contra Costa County
General Plan for agricultural or other open space uses as defined in Section 65560 of the
Government Code; and
WHEREAS, lands within the Tasssjara area presently are not served with sewer, water, and
urban levels of police and other services, which services would be difficult and expensive to
provide; and
WHEREAS, the lands within the Tassaj ara area are located outside LAFCO-adopted municipal
or urban service district spheres of influence; and
WHEREAS, the need for housing within the Tri Valley area has been met for the next 30 years
through the approval of over 48,000 additional housing units including 11,000 homes in
Dougherty Valley, 13,196 homes in East Dublin, 5,000 homes in Pleasanton, 14,215 homes in
Livermore and North Livermore, and 5,000 homes in the communities of Danville, San Ramon,
Alamo and unincorporated Alameda County; and
WHEREAS, the Tassaj ara area should appropriately be retained for agricultural and open space
uses in the best interests of the Town, the City of San Ramon and Contra Costa County; now
therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby endorses and approves the Tassajara
Agricultural Preservation Agreement and directs the Mayor to execute the agreement on behalf
of the Town,

following vote:
