APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICES ON
CLOVERBROOK DRIVE BETWEEN PARKHAVEN DRIVE AND DUNHILL
DRIVE
WHEREAS, Goal 11 of the Town of Danville General Plan directs the Town to "Provide for
safe and efficient vehicular movement on Town of Danville streets"; and
WHEREAS, Goal 13 of the Town of Danville General Plan directs the Town to "Minimize the
intrusion of through traffic on residential streets"; and
WHEREAS, Policy 13.0 1 of the Town of Danville General Plan directs the Town to "Consider
physical changes and traffic control devices to discourage through traffic on residential streets";
and
WHEREAS, the installation of traffic calming devices is allowed by applicable State law
regulating roadway design features; and
WHEREAS, the traffic calming devices will be installed consistent with guidelines approved by
the Institute of Transportation Engineers and practices of other California municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the following findings are made for Cloverbrook Drive:

The street is not on a primary or routine emergency response route.
The affected homeowners' associations support the installation of the traffic calming
devices.
The street is not a Major Arterial or Major Collector as defined by the Town of Danville
General Plan Circulation Element.
Enforcement efforts and motorist education have not been successful in achieving driving
behavior consistent with General Plan goals and policies.
The traffic calming devices are not expected to have adverse effects on surrounding
streets and neighborhoods.
Installation of these traffic calming devices is exempt from CEQA per Section
15061(a)(3) of the CEQA Guidelines. The devices will not have a significant effect on
the environment.
An existing water meter is available to provide irrigation for device landscaping.
An existing homeowners' association will be responsible for annual irrigation and
landscape maintenance costs.
WHEREAS, 1997/98 funds have been appropriated for installation of traffic calming devices
in Project C-305 of the 1996/97 to 2000/01 Five-Year Capital Improvement Program; now,
therefore be it
RESOLVED that the DanGlie Town Council approves the installation of traffic calming devices
on Cloverbrook Drive between Parkhaven Drive and Dunhill Drive. Staff is directed to work
with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District on the final location and design of these
devices to minimize the impact on emergency vehicle access and response time.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a Regular Meeting on April 7, 1998 by the
following vote:
