ENDORSING MEASURE D ON THE
APRIL 14, 1998 SPECIAL ELECTION BALLOT
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville desires quality neighborhood schools and equal educational
opportunities for all students in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD); and
WHEREAS, quality school facilities are essential to the economic well-being and the quality
of life in the San Ramon Valley; and
WHEREAS, the SRVUSD Board of Trustees appointed a Citizens Advisory Committee on
District Facilities, representing a diverse group of 28 citizens from the San Ramon Valley to
review District facility needs and make recommendations concerning the need for a bond
election; and
WHEREAS, the Citizens Advisory Committee completed its study and unanimously
recommended that the Board propose to the voters of the District a $70 million bond issue to
finance certain specified projects; and
WHEREAS, the SRVUSD Board of Trustees adopted the Advisory Committee's
recommendations and authorized a School Facilities Bond election on April 14, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the SRVUSD Board of Trustees has requested the endorsement of this bond
measure by the Town of Danville; and
WHEREAS, the Measure, as written, will provide local funding without increasing local
property tax rates; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby endorses School Bond Measure D on the
April 14, 1998 Special Election ballot.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting held on February 3, 1998, by
the following vote:
