HomeMy WebLinkAbout158-97RESOLUTION NO. 158-97 AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR PROCUREMENT OF A NEW TOWN-WIDE TELEPHONE SYSTEM TO MITEL TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS WHEREAS, the Town of Danville's existing telephone system is over 10 years old and the Town wishes to insure reliability and take advantage of new technologies to facilitate communication between/among Town staff, elected officials and residents; and WHEREAS, in recognition of the need to replace the telephone system, funds were budgeted in the 1997-98 financial plan Asset Replacement Fund; and WHEREAS, a telephone system consulting firm, Communications Sales Dynamics, Inc. (CSD) was hired by the Town to provide bid document preparation assistance, incorporating specific telephone system needs as identified by Town staff, and has provided technical expertise during the bid process; and WHEREAS, formal proposals have been solicited, received, reviewed and evaluated by Town staff, as well as two different, independent telecommunications vendors (CSD and Pellegrini Associates); and WHEREAS, based on the proposal evaluation process for new telephone system procurement, Mitel Telecommunications Systems, Inc. was selected as the Town's new telephone hardware/software vendor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the Town Manager to execute, on behalf of the Town, a contractual agreement for purchase of new Town-wide telephone equipment with Mitel Telecommunication Systems, Inc., and approve a five-year maintenance agreement to be paid annually, in the form lodged with the City Clerk, together with such changes as may hereafter become necessary, provided such changes do not materially increase the obligations of the Town thereunder.
