HomeMy WebLinkAbout173-96RESOLUTION NO. 173-96 APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT FOR THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY LIBRARY STUDY WHEREAS, On November 21, 1995, the Town Council adopted Resolution No. 181-95, authorizing Town participation in a County wide study for provision of Library Services; and WHEREAS, the Town Council, on April 18, 1996, met with the consultant retained to prepare the County Library Study to identify issues of significance and concern related to library services available to the residents of Danville including: (a) financial equity and the need for greater return to source funding, need for greater flexibility to accommodate limited senrice hours and use of volunteers; and WHERFAS, the Town has actively participated in the drafting of the County Library Study through the Contra Costa County Mayor's Conference and the Contra Costa County Public Manager's Association; and WHEREAS, the County Library Study was developed through a consensus building process which attempted to address concerns raised by the majority of cities participating, including the Town of Danville; and WHEREAS, implementation of the County Library Study provides an opportunity to increase the level and effectiveness of library services for all residents of the County; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council approves the Final Report for the Contra Costa County Library Study and urges the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and the City/Town Councils of all other participating jurisdictions to take similar action.
