HomeMy WebLinkAbout137-94RESOLUTION NO. 137-94 SUPPORTING MEASURE B - LIBRARY PARCEL TAX ON THE NOVEMBER 8, 1994 BALLOT WHEREAS, Measure B is a funding measure on the November 8, 1994 ballot to restore and maintain Contra Costa County Library Services; and WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Library includes a central library, 17 community branches and 3 outlets, including one branch library in Danville; and WHEREAS, the library receives funding from local property taxes and by law, the county cannot divert those funds to any other use; and WHEREAS, State budget cuts have taken their toll on the Contra Costa County Library, cutting $3 million out of the library budget; and WHEREAS, monies raised through Measure B will keep local libraries open, provide programs and services for children & young adults, expand the adult literacy program, restore branch libraries to a 40 hours per week schedule, including Saturday, increase the book & materials budget by 40%, hire a volunteer coordinator to expand the volunteer opportunities in all libraries and operate a toll-free information line; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council does hereby support Measure B - Library Parcel Tax on the November 8th ballot. APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a Regular Meeting held on October 18, 1994, by the following vote: AYES: Ritchey, Greenberg, Doyle, Shimansky, Waldo NOES: None ABSTAINED: None ABSENT: None CITY ATTORNEY' ATTEST: CITY CLERK
