HomeMy WebLinkAbout048-94 RESOLUTION NO. 48-94 SUPPORTING SB 1448 ALLOWING FOR BENEFIT ASSESSMENT DISTRICTS FOR LIBRARIES. WHEREAS, Assessment districts are a common form of financing for specific services within the state of California; and WHEREAS, SB 1448 would allow local entities who provide library services to establish a library services assessment district; and WHEREAS, libraries currently have no dedicated revenue source, rely on general fund dollars and have a history of being one of the first services cut when revenues are down; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville has a vested interest in finding a revenue source to pay for library services since the Town already contributes to keeping the current library open and additional expenses are anticipated when the new library opens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Danville hereby supports SB 1448 and authorizes the Mayor to send letters of support to the appropriate State legislators.
