AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY OFFICE OF REVENUE COLLECTION AND DATA
PROCESSING TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROCESSING OF THE
TOWN OF DANVILLE PARKING CITATIONS USING THE EXISTING COUNTY
AUTOMATED SYSTEM
WHEREAS, AB-408 passed the state legislature and became law on January 1, 1993,
decriminalizing parking offenses and making them a civil penalty; and
WHEREAS, this law requires the local municipal courts to stop processing parking violation
notices and provide for the orderly transfer of these processing activities to the issuing agency
by January 1, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville Police Department has researched and studied the
processing options and is recommending the Town contract with a vendor to process these
notices and handle the collections process; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville has elected to stay within the County computerized
citation processing system and shift the handling of parking notices from the County
Municipal Courts to the County Office of Revenue Collection and Data Processing; and
WHEREAS, the County Office of Revenue Collection and Data processing have agreed to
assume responsibility for this handling of parking notices, collection and disbursement of fines,
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town of Danville does hereby authorize the
Mayor to sign a letter of intent with the Contra Costa County Office of Revenue Collection
in conjunction with the County Data Processing Services to process the Town of Danville
parking citations for one year using the existing County Automated system to commence
November 1, 1993, and, be it further
RESOLVED that the Town Council does hereby authorize the Town Manager to enter to
a formal one year agreement with the Contra Costa Office of Revenue Collection/Data
Processing based upon the provisions outlined in the letter of intent.

October 5, 1993, by the following vote:
