HomeMy WebLinkAbout117-93RESOLUTION NO. 117-93 APPROPRIATING FUNDING TO PROVIDE FOR 40 HOUR PER WEEK SERVICE AT THE DANVILLE LIBRARY FOR THE BALANCE OF 1993-94 WHEREAS, the Danville Library valuable and needed resource for all segments of the Danville community; and WHEREAS, on July 30, 1993, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors acted to reduce funding for county libraries by 30%; and WHEREAS, the County Librarian has requested that all cities in Contra Costa County augment available county funding in order to maintain 40 hour per week service; and WHEREAS, the County Librarian has worked with Town of Danville staff to identify an alternative which would provide for 40 hour per week service while reducing the service level at the Danville Library, an approach is consistent with rightsizing efforts undertaken by the Town of Danville over the past three years; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Danville does hereby appropriate $61,000 from the Town Reserve for Revenue Shortfall to augment operation of the Danville Library and provide for 40 hour per week service for the remainder of the 1993- 94 fiscal year; and, be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Manager is directed to send a correspondence to the County Administrator which addresses the need to develop a countywide effort aimed at identifying a permanent funding solution to support library operations in Contra Costa County.
