HomeMy WebLinkAbout166-92 RESOLUTION NO. 166-92 ESTABLISHING A RETENTION SCHEDULE FOR THE RECORDS OF THE TOWN OF DANVILLE WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide a system for managing the paperwork accumulated in the daily operation of the Town of Danville municipal government; and WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to adopt a records retention schedule which will standardize the length of time records are kept, according to all applicable legal, fiscal, administrative and historic requirements; and WHERE., Section 34090 of the Government Code of the State of California provides the guidelines for destroying records that have served their purpose and are no longer required; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has approved in writing the retention schedule and has consented to the destruction dates hereinafter set forth, as shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council approve a Records Retention Schedule (Exhibit A) and direct the City Clerk to annually review state and federal regulations and update the Records Retention Schedule as necessary; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Council appoint the City Clerk as the Records Custodian, authorizing the Clerk to destroy original records according to the established schedule.
