APPROVING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A TEMPORARY SKATEBOARD FACILITY
WHEREAS, many youth have been skateboarding in the downtown; and
WHEREAS, downtown merchants have been complaining to Town officials and reporting
incidences to the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has been spending an inordinate amount of time in
dealing with skateboarding issues; and
WHEREAS, members of the business community have come forward and have pledged
support in reaching an alternative to having skaters utilizing their property; and
WHERF~S, it is the desire of the Town to be responsive to problems existing in the
community and to strive to reach solutions which will lead to the resolution of such
problems; and
WHEREAS, the provision of a skateboarding facility in the downtown would provide a
safe and enjoyable alternative for skateboarders; and
WHEREAS, a temporary facility on Hartz Court would be a suitable location for a facility;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Danville that the Town Council hereby
approves the development of a temporary Skateboard Facility on Hartz Court; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that $7,172 be appropriated from the anticipated revenue from
operation of the Skateboard Facility; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Youth Services revenue projection be increased by
$7,172; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the facility will be temporary and will be removed when the
area is required for development of the Charlotte Wood site.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a Regular Meeting held on October 6, 1992,
by the following vote:
AYES: LANE, SHIMANSKY, DOYLE
NOES: GREENBERG, RITCHEY
ABSTAINED: NONE
ABSENT: NONE
