APPROVING AMENDED GUIDELINES GOVERNING
TOWN CO-SPONSORSHIP OF CULTURAL ARTS EVENTS
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville supports the arts and encourages a variety of cultural
arts activities and events; and
WHEREAS, the Town receives requests for co-sponsorship of cultural arts events and
desires guidelines to assure consistent and fair consideration of those requests; and
WHEREAS, the Town Arts Commission is the advisory body on matters of the arts; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Danville that the Town Council hereby
approves the following Guidelines Governing Town Co-Sponsorship of Cultural Arts
Events:

Co-sponsorship shall be considered for non-profit organizations and local
businesses in the San Ramon Valley and local and regional public agencies.

Organizations requesting co-sponsorship of events or programs exceeding
one day will be required to submit a Town of Danville Application for Co-
sponsorship to the Parks and Recreation Department.

Staff will be responsible for review of the Application and
development/negotiation of the terms of agreement for the Town and the
co-sponsoring organization.

In the Village Theatre, as a general guideline, Co-sponsorship events shall
not exceed 25% of rental revenues.

In the Village Theatre, a maximum of 600 hours in building attendant
and/or technician hours shall be contributed to co-sponsorship annually.

Staff will prepare a recommendation to the Arts Commission regarding the
Applications for Co-sponsorship and the terms of the agreements. Formal
Co-sponsorship agreements are appealable to Town Council. The Arts
Commission will be the final authority on matters pertaining to scheduling
and use of facilities.

The Co-sponsorship Agreement will be signed by a representative of the
Town and co-sponsoring organization.

An evaluation will be prepared by staff upon the completion of the co-
sponsored events, series or season to be reviewed by the Arts Commission.
APPROVED, by the Danville Town Council at a Regular Meeting on September 1, 1992
by the following vote:
