SUPPORT OF MEASURE C
WHEREAS, the Governing Board of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District has
been forced to cut more than $5 million from the school budget during the last two years;
and
WHEREAS, these cuts have resulted in the reduction or elimination of essential academic
programs in our schools; and
WHEREAS, these cuts have resulted in increases in academic class sizes in our schools;
and
WHERF~S, the state's fiscal crisis makes it extremely unlikely that additional revenue to
restore programs in our schools will be forthcoming from the state; and
WHEREAS, the lottery cannot supply the District with sufficient revenue to restore these
programs to our schools; and
WHEREAS, passage of local parcel tax will raise revenue to fund the restoration or
maintenance of essential programs in our shcools; and
WHERF~S, the Governing Board of the San Ramon Valley School District has placed
Measure C on the ballot in order to raise approximately $3 million per year to restore
many of the programs recently cut from the District budget, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Danville endorses the passage of
Measure C on November 5th and urges all residents of the community to give this
important educational initiative their support.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a Regular Meeting held on October 1, 1991,
by the following vote:
