WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) collects Transportation Development Act (TDA) revenue generated on the sale of gasoline from all jurisdictions in the Bay Area; WHEREAS, the MTC then allocates the money to the various transportation authorities based on the populations of the jurisdictions served; WHEREAS, the Town of Danville's "share" of the gasoline tax is allocated to CCCTA that operates the County Connection bus service; WHEREAS, the Town of Danville generates $600,000 - $900,000 in TDA funds that accrue to the CCCTA; WHEREAS, the Town of Danville is not receiving a level of service commensurate with revenue generated; WHEREAS, the Town of Danville recognizes the importance of a regional approach to transportation and therefore is not seeking a dollar-for-dollar solution to the equity problem; WHEREAS, instead, the Town of Danville has examined transportation needs not currently being met, and seeks to have those needs addressed; WHEREAS, the County Connection currently provides only one route through Danville-- Route 121. This route travels through the middle of town, serving Camino Ramon to the South and Danville Boulevard to the North. This route does not provide any service to east Danville residents; WHEREAS, the County Connection consequently has proposed an additional route, No. 122. The new route, Route 122, would run between Danville and San Ramon, linking the city and town offices. It would also serve Danville residents to the east; WHEREAS, to make the service even more responsive, Town Staff asked the CCCTA to examine the feasibility of varying or augmenting the route in two places to enable students to take the bus to school; WHEREAS, throughout the process, this has been a cooperative effort, with the County Connection Staff, Town Council and Staff working together; be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Danville hereby supports expresses a strong preference for proposed Route 122, Alternative 4; be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council supports further consideration and trial implementation (if feasible) of a route augmentation that diverts the bus from Sycamore Valley Road south to San Ramon Valley, across the Greenbrook overpass and north on Camino Ramon to serve the (new) Charlotte Wood and Baldwin Schools; be it FURTHER RESOLVED, the Town Council does not at this time support the optional route augmentation that diverts the bus from Sycamore Valley Road to Greenbrook, E1 Capitan and Camino Ramon Roads; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Council directs staff to communicate this position to the CCCTA/County Connection Board of Directors and assist in whatever ways necessary to facilitate the implementation of Route 122 as supported.
