HomeMy WebLinkAbout097-91RESOLUTION NO. 97-91 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF DANVILLE AUTHORIZING THE DEVELOPMENT OF DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOR THE DANVILLE BRANCH LIBRARY AND APPROPRIATING NECESSARY FUNDS WHEREAS, On January 2, 1991 the Town Council directed staff to complete the necessary work to submit an application to the State of California for Proposition 85 Library Construction Act funds based on a 33,000 SF building, and WHEREAS, the Town's grant application was unsuccessful which necessitates redesign of the project to an 18,000 SF building, and WHEREAS, a balance must be met between librarian needs of having all public areas on one floor and Town Council desires to keep the footprint as small as possible to enlarge the open space, and WHEREAS, this can be accomplished with a 15,700 SF footprint, and WHEREAS, the library project is counting on the support of the community for donations in many areas, and WHEREAS, total design costs are expected to be $550,000 of which $315,000 has been appropriated for design work for the Danville Library project; Now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that staff be directed to design an 18,000 SF branch library with a 15,700 SF footprint based on placing mechanical equipment on the second floor; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that $235,000 be appropriated from the Civic Facilities fund for the purpose of designing and developing construction documents for the Danville Branch Library project; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that staff and Town Council initiate a coordinated townwide fundraising effort.
