HomeMy WebLinkAbout066-91RESOLUTION NO. 66-91 APPROVING TOWN OF DANVILLE CO-SPONSORSHIP OF THE GOLDEN SPIKE CELEBRATION AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE EVENT WHEREAS, in 1891, the first steam engine made its maiden run through the San Ramon Valley; and WHEREAS, in 1991, the Museum of the San Ramon Valley is commemorating the coming of the railroad with a centennial celebration; and WHEREAS, one of the commemorative activities will be the Golden Spike Celebration which will be held on June 8th in Danville; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville recognizes the railroad as one of the most significant events of the late 1800's; and WHEREAS, the Town is interested in participating in community events of historical significance; now therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Danville that the Town hereby becomes an official co-sponsor of the Golden Spike Celebration; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, the Town Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of $5,500 from the Contingency Account to be used in financing the event with $5,000 to be considered as seed money to be repaid to the Town.
