APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANTS FUNDS
FOR THE RESTORATION OF COW CREEK
WHEREAS, the California Department of Water Resources, Division of
Local Assistance, Urban Stream Restoration Program has announced
the availability of funds for grants; and
WHEREAS, said grants are intended to help solve flooding and
erosion problems in a way that provides environmental enhancement;
and
WHEREAS, a co-sponsor is needed to qualify for the grant; and
WHEREAS, the Greenbrook Homeowners Association has agreed to co-
sponsor an application with the Town of Danville for a grant to
restore Cow Creek by providing a free flowing stream channel and
flood control channel while maintaining a natural riparian habitat;
and
WHEREAS, the project proposed for funding with the grant funds
would be environmentally beneficial and categorically exempt from
requirements for environmental document preparation under Class 7
exemption, and
WHEREAS, the prospects of receiving such a grant are reasonably
likely, thereby justifying the staff time and expense necessary to
prepare the grant application; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Danville that
staff is hereby instructed and authorized to prepare and submit a
joint application with the Greenbrook Homeowners Association for an
Urban Streams Restoration Program grant.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a Regular Meeting on
January 15, 1991, by the following vote:
AYES: GREENBERG, LANE, RITCHEY, SCHLENDORF, SHiMANSKY
