RESOLUTION NO. 79-90
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF DANVILLE APPROVING
THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC DEPOT AS A DANVILLE HERITAGE RESOURCE
WHEREAS, the Town Council nominated the Southern Pacific Depot,
located on Railroad Avenue in Danville, as a Danville Heritage
Resource on February 6, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville owns the former Southern Pacific
Depot, located on Railroad Avenue in Danville; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 89-8 (Historic Preservation) of the Town of
Danville establishes criteria for Heritage Resources; and
WHEREAS, the Heritage Resource Commission is required by Ordinance
No. 89-8 to review a Heritage Resource nomination; and
WHEREAS, on March 29, 1990 the Heritage Resource Commission
approved Resolution No. HR-90-1, recommending approval of
designating the Southern Pacific Depot as a Danville Heritage
Resource.
WHEREAS, the Depot has been nominated for inclusion on the National
Register of Historic Places;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE DANVILLE TOWN COUNCILMAKES
THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS IN SUPPORT OF THIS ACTION:
l.
The depot represents a distinct historical period to the Town
of Danville.
2. The depot is representative of the evolution of the community·

Designation of the Depot as a Heritage Resource is consistent
with language in the General Plan that describes the
preservation of frontier Victorian character in Danville·
·
A policy of the Downtown Master Plan is preservation of the
Depot·

Designation of the Depot as a Heritage Resource will enhance
the surrounding neighborhood and will encourage preservation
of other historic buildings in the downtown area.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council approves the
designation of the Southern Pacific Depot as a Heritage Resource
pursuant to Ordinance No. 89-8.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of
Danville at a regular meeting duly held thereof, this 17th day of
April, 1990, by the following vote:

RECOMMENDATION OF APPROVAL FOR DESIGNATING
THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC DEPOT AS A DANVILLE HERITAGE RESOURCE
WHEREAS, the Town Council nominated the Southern Pacific Depot,

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Heritage Resource Commission of the Town
of Danville recommends to the Town Council that the Southern
