HomeMy WebLinkAbout045-89 RESOLUTION NO. 4~89 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF THE RESTORATION/REHABILITATION OF THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC DEPOT BY THE MUSEUM OF THE SAN RAMON VALLEY WHEREAS, the railroad depot in Danville has been identified as one of Danville's most important heritage resources; and WHEREAS, the depot is structurally sound and has been changed very little since it was built in 1891; and WHEREAS, the depot is the only survivor in its original form and location of four Southern Pacific depots building in Concord, Walnut creek, Danville and San Ramon; and WHEREAS, the Museum of the San Ramon Valley ("Museum") and the Town are currently applying for national historic landmark status for the depot; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Museum is to preserve the history and culture of the San Ramon Valley and the depot symbolizes the major technological change of the nineteenth century; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council supports the Museum of the San Ramon Valley as the lead entity to pursue restoration/ rehabilitation of the depot for Museum and Community use.
