HomeMy WebLinkAbout025-89 RESOLUTION NO. 25-89 A Resolution of the Town Council of the Town of Danville Calling A Special Election WHEREAS, an initiaitve petition calling for an amendment to the Danville General Plan requiring the extension of Camino Ramon southward to Fostoria Way in the City of San Ramon was filed with the Town of Danville on February 8, 1989; and WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Registrar of Voters certified that such petition was signed by a minimum of 3,058 registered voters of the Town of Danville, and that there are a total of 19,917 registered voters in the Town of Danville; and WHEREAS, such petition has been signed by at least fifteen percent of the registered voters of the Town of Danville; WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the California Elections Code, the Danville Town Council desires to submit such initiative measure to the voters at a special municipal election to be held on June 6, 1989; and WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to have the City Attorney prepare an impartial analysis of such initiative measure; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED as follows: 1. The Town Manager is hereby ordered and directed to prepare a report on such initiative measure's fiscal impact on the Town, its effect on the internal consistency of the Town's General Plan, its effect on Town-wide and regional traffic circulation, and such other and further matters as the Town Manager deems appropriate. 2. Pursuant to Section 4010 of the Elections Code, the Town Council orders a special election to be held on June 6, 1989, at which the ballot measure, without alteration, shall be submitted to a vote of the electors. 3. The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to appoint the Contra Costa County Elections Department to administer such election for the Town of Danville, and to act in all respects as the "election officer" for such election, as that term is used and described in applicable provisions of the California Elections Code. 4. The city Attorney shall prepare an impartial analysis of the measure to be included in the voter information pamphlet. 5. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to take all necessary and appropriate actions, including but not limited to the payment of required fees, charges and expenses, to ensure that such election is duly and properly held.
