HomeMy WebLinkAbout013-89 RESOLUTION NO. 13-89 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF DANVILLE DECLARING A PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON SYCAMORE VALLEY ROAD AND CAMINO TASSAJARA PURSUANT TO SECTION 22357 AND 22358 OF THE CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE The Town Council of Danville resolves that: On a basis of a traffic and engineering survey and recommendation thereon by the City Engineer, the following prima facie speed limit is established. Pursuant to Section 22357 and2 22358 of the California Vehicle Code: no vehicle shall travel in excess of 40 miles per hour on that portion of Sycamore Valley Road beginning at the intersection of Camino Ramon and Sycamore Valley Road and extending easterly to the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara, and; no vehicle shall travel in excess of 45 miles per hour on that portion of Camino Tassajara beginning at the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara and extending easterly to the intersection of Camino Tassajara and Crow Canyon Road. MEMORANDUM Date: January 23, 1989 To: Steve Lake, Town Engineer Town of Danville From: Charles Abrams ~/7~~ Traffic Engineer ,,~.o Subject: Speed Surveys on Camino Tassajara and Sycamore Valley Road l_ The attached data shows the results of the most recent speed surveys on Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara. These studies were taken after the completion of the construction projects on these roads, and reflect the new conditions that now exist in these areas. These studies support the recommendation that the speed limits should be 40 mph on Sycamore ~/alley Road between Camino Ramon and Camino Tassajara, and 45 mph on Camino Tassajara from Sycamore Valley Road to the Danville city limit in the Blackhawk area. The engineering studies will be placed on file with the Danville Police Department to support their enforcement efforts. It is extremely difficult to justify a lower speed limit on either of these roads. On Sycamore Valley Road, only 14 of 221 observations were less than 35 mph. On Camino Tassajara, only 18 of 219 observations were less than 40 mph. These roads have full control of access and are designed for safe and efficient travel speeds.
