A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF DANVILLE
ESTABLISHING A DANVILLE ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council wants to continue its support
for cultural and fine arts activities and programs within the
community; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council wants to encourage interest and
financial support for arts activities and programs within the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council has determined that these goals can
best be accomplished by designating a citizens advisory body
that will be responsible for advising the Town Council on
policies and programs, and for building a viable patron support
base for the arts within the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town
of Danville that:

An Arts Advisory Committee is established consisting of five
voting members, and ex-officio members as determined by the
Council from time to time.

Upon appointment by the Town Council members of the
committee shall serve rotating two year terms beginning
effective February 1, 1987. Of the members first appointed,
three shall serve until February 1, 1988, and two shall
serve until February 1, 1989.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that committee members will serve as
working volunteers with the following responsibilities:

To promote interest and support for the arts within the
community at large.

To establish and serve as a principle liaison with an
auxiliary group to be known as the Danville Arts Alliance --
the principle function of which shall be to raise funds for
arts programs, assist in the sponsorship and conduct of arts
programs, and to serve as a patron support group for the
arts.
To ultimately work toward combining the activities of the
Advisory Committee with those of the Arts Alliance into a
viable, independent non-profit community organization.

To inform the community about art and cultural events by the
publication of a calendar of art and cultural events.

To serve as a liaison to, and to represent Danville with
other regional arts organizations·

To recommend policies regarding community arts facilities to
the Parks and Leisure Services Commission and the Town
Council.

To prepare and review with the Town Council an annual work
program for the committee and the Arts Alliance which should
include two or more high quality programs per year.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Advisory Committee shall
conduct all of its activities in accordance with procedures and
policies adopted by the Town Council, including those procedures
set forth in Resolution 114-86 regarding the conduct of
legislative and advisory committee meetings.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED on the 6th day of April, 1987, by
the following vote:
