HomeMy WebLinkAbout089-86RESOLUTION NO. 89- 86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DANVILLE AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO ESTABLISH TEMPORARY REDUCED SPEED LIMITS WITHIN CONSTRUCTION ZONES WHEREAS, construction activities within roadways endanger both construction workers and vehicular traffic, and WHEREAS, the reduction of vehicular speeds through construction zones provides a safer work area, and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has knowledge of construction activities occurring within City roadways and is current on traffic safety measures, and WHEREAS, the installation of regulatory speed limit signs within construction zones enables local police agencies to enforce speed reduction zones, and WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 22362 authorizes local jurisdictions to reduce speed limits within construction zones. NOW, THEREFORE, City Council of the City of Danville hereby resolves as follows: 1. The City Engineer is hereby authorized to establish temporary speed limit reductions on roadways within the City limits where construction activities are occurring. 2. When deemed warranted by the City Engineer, any contractor working with roadways shall procure, install, maintain, and remove all signage as directed by the city Engineer. 3. All signage shall comply with restrictions set forth in California Vehicle Code Section 22362 and current traffic safety standards and shall remain in effect during all construction activity in accordance with the city Engineer's direction.
