HomeMy WebLinkAbout025-86I DAh% LLE RESOLUTION NO. 25-86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DANVILLE GRANTING PERMISSION TO PARTIALLY CLOSE SEVERAL ROADS MAY 4, 1986, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PERMITTING THE DEVIL MOUNTAIN RUN WHEREAS, The Devil Mountain Run is an annual event benefitting the Children's Hospital Medical Center of Northern California; and WHEREAS, this event is well-supported and enjoyed by the residents of Danville as well as bringing regional recognition to the City; and WHEREAS, in order to insure the safety of the runners, it is necessary to partially close a number of local roads during the race; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Danville City Council, on behalf of all Danville citizens, does hereby authorize the partial closing of the following roads on May 4, 1986, between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for the purpose of permitting the Devil Mountain Run: le San Ramon Valley Boulevard, from Town & Country Road to Sycamore Valley Road · Sycamore Valley Road between San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Camino Ramon · Camino Ramon between Sycamore Valley Road and Greenbrook Drive · Greenbrook Drive between Camino Ramon and Old Orchard Road ~ Old Orchard Road between Greenbrook Drive and Camino Tassaj ara e Camino Tassajara between Old Orchard Road and Diablo Road 7. Kennett, Beverly Lane, Richard McNeely and Susanna Schtendorf NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: Doug 0ffenhartz CITY CLERK Originator: Leisure Services Manager / SUNDAY, MAY 4, 1986 J 9:00 AM Sunday, May 4th, the 10K and 2.8 mile races will start at the Town & Country & Village Shopping Center on San Ramon Valley Blvd. at 9:00 AM. A map showing the race courses, intersecting streets and alternative motorist routes is pro- vided on the backside of this letter. The most heavily traveled intersections will be controlled by professional law enforcement personnel from the Danville Police department. Traffic on lightly used roads will be directed by volunteers in "RACE OFFICIAL" t-shirts. To in- sure the safety of runners, it will be necessary to close the following inter- sections at the times listed below: 8:45 to 9:15 - San Ramon Valley Blvd from Town & Country Rd to Sycamore Valley Rd. 9:00 to 9:20 - Paraiso from Camino Ramon to Everett. 9:00 to 9:20 - The 'OFF' ramp and 'ON' ramp at Sycamore Valley Rd on Hwy 680, the San Ramon Valley Blvd& Sycamore Valley Rd intersection and the Sycamore Valley Rd and Camino Ramon intersection close 9:10 to 10:00- Sycamore Valley, Greenbrook, Brookside(north), and Old Orchard closed. 9:15 to 9:45 - Old Orchard and Camino Tassajara closed. 9:15 to 10:00- Camino Tasssjara and Diablo Rd closed. 9:15 to 10:00- The Diablo Rd 'OFF' ramp Northbound closed. 9:20 to 10:15- San Ramon Valley Blvd from Diablo Rd to Sycamore Valley Rd closed off and on. Traffic normally using Diablo Rd east of Hwy 680 will find alternate routes on E1 Cerro. Between 9:30 & 10:30 AM it would be best to avoid Diablo Rd from Camino Tassajara to Hartz Ave. Use the map provided to find the alter- nate routes. To reach the freeway, all residents west of Hartz Ave should use(Southbound) Morris Ranch Rd to Podva to San Ramon Valley Blvd and (North- bound) Linda Mesa to Hartz Ave to La Gonda to E1 Cerro. There will be shortwave communication around the race course tying together traffic and runner control officials, docotrs and ambulances. If you have aN emergency which requires you to use any roads on which traffic is restricted, simply adivse one of our uniformed officials and safe passage through the runners will be quickly arranged. With the addition of the 2.8 mile course, residents along Laurel will have walkers and runners on that street between 9:10 and 10:00 AM. These plans, insuring the safety of runners and minimizing the inconvenience ,-~ to residents have been reviewed in detail and approved by the Danville Poli~a department and the California Highway Patrol.
