SUNDAY, MAY 4, 1986

9:00 AM
Sunday, May 4th, the 10K and 2.8 mile races will start at the Town & Country
& Village Shopping Center on San Ramon Valley Blvd. at 9:00 AM. A map showing
the race courses, intersecting streets and alternative motorist routes is pro-
vided on the backside of this letter.
The most heavily traveled intersections will be controlled by professional law
enforcement personnel from the Danville Police department. Traffic on lightly
used roads will be directed by volunteers in "RACE OFFICIAL" t-shirts. To in-
sure the safety of runners, it will be necessary to close the following inter-
sections at the times listed below:
8:45 to 9:15 - San Ramon Valley Blvd from Town & Country Rd to Sycamore
Valley Rd.
9:00 to 9:20 - Paraiso from Camino Ramon to Everett.
9:00 to 9:20 - The 'OFF' ramp and 'ON' ramp at Sycamore Valley Rd on Hwy 680,
the San Ramon Valley Blvd& Sycamore Valley Rd intersection
and the Sycamore Valley Rd and Camino Ramon intersection close
9:10 to 10:00- Sycamore Valley, Greenbrook, Brookside(north), and Old
Orchard closed.
9:15 to 9:45 - Old Orchard and Camino Tassajara closed.
9:15 to 10:00- Camino Tasssjara and Diablo Rd closed.
9:15 to 10:00- The Diablo Rd 'OFF' ramp Northbound closed.
9:20 to 10:15- San Ramon Valley Blvd from Diablo Rd to Sycamore Valley
Rd closed off and on.
Traffic normally using Diablo Rd east of Hwy 680 will find alternate routes
on E1 Cerro. Between 9:30 & 10:30 AM it would be best to avoid Diablo Rd
from Camino Tassajara to Hartz Ave. Use the map provided to find the alter-
nate routes. To reach the freeway, all residents west of Hartz Ave should
use(Southbound) Morris Ranch Rd to Podva to San Ramon Valley Blvd and (North-
bound) Linda Mesa to Hartz Ave to La Gonda to E1 Cerro. There will be
shortwave communication around the race course tying together traffic and
runner control officials, docotrs and ambulances. If you have aN emergency
which requires you to use any roads on which traffic is restricted, simply
adivse one of our uniformed officials and safe passage through the runners
will be quickly arranged.
With the addition of the 2.8 mile course, residents along Laurel will have
walkers and runners on that street between 9:10 and 10:00 AM.
These plans, insuring the safety of runners and minimizing the inconvenience
,-~ to residents have been reviewed in detail and approved by the Danville Poli~a
department and the California Highway Patrol.
