HomeMy WebLinkAbout071-85 RESOLUTION NO. 71-85 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DANVILLE GRANTING PERMISSION TO PARTIALLY CLOSE SEVERAL ROADS OCTOBER 13, 1985 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PERMITTING THE PRIMO'S TO PRIMO'S FOOT RACE The City Engineer, having recommended that permission be granted to Primo's Pizza to partially close (except for emergency traffic) the following roads on October 13, 1985, between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for the purpose of permitting the Primo's to Primo's Foot Race; 1. Hartz Avenue between Diablo Road and Linda Mesa; 2. Diablo Road between Camino Tassajara and North Hartz Avenue; 3. Camino Tassajara between Sycamore Valley Road and Diablo Road; 4. Sycamore Valley Road between Camino Tassajara and Greenbrook Drive; 5. Greenbrook Drive between Sycamore Valley Road and Harlan Drive; 6. Harlan Drive between Greenbrook Drive and St. Helena; 7. St. Helena between Harlan Drive and Claridge Drive; 8. Claridge Drive between St. Helena and E1 Capitan Drive; and 9. E1 Capitan Drive between Claridge Drive and Crow Canyon Road. The proceeds of this run would be donated to the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation(SRVEF). As many of you are aware the SRVEF was founded aporoximately 2 years ago to benefit the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. The foundation has pledged a sizable amount of money of money to the anticipated $25,000.00 science project that the school district would like to implement. It has also made many smaller grants already. A map of the ½ marathon is attached. It will commence at Hartz and Diabol Rd. heading east to Camino Tassajara then turn right onto Sycamore; from there it proceeds down sycamore, it turns left on Green~rook, then turns left on Harlan, Proceeds to St. Helena, turns right on St. Helena, then turns left on Claridge, Proceeds tp E1 Capitan, right on E1 Capitan then right on Crow Canyon. At this point the run is in San Ramon as outlined by the map. The run will commence at 7:30 a.m. on October 13th, which is a Sunday morning. It is anticipated we will have between 50 and 200 runners. We are petitioning you for street closures accordingly. We will be notifying the occupants of Crow Canyon Country Club that access to and from the Country Club will be blocked for approximately 30 minutes on that morning (estimated 8:00-8:30a.m.) and will be contacting there Home Owners Association. Ken Sandy of the Danville Police Department has stated he sees no problem with the above route. We will provide help with monitoring intersections, notifying people about the run, and any help that Ken Sandy deems necessary. The authorization of the City Council of Danville would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Yours, 3130 Crow Canyon Rd., Suite D · San Ramon, CA 94583 (415) 838-2953 · (415) 829-0939 IMPORTANT NOTICE--PLEASE READ Re: Primo's to Primo's Run Sunday, October 14, 1984 Dear Neighbor: The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation, a non-profit corporation which raises money for public schools throughout your school district is sponsoring and will conduct a footrace on Sunday, October 14, 1984. The race is called the "Primo's to Primo's Run". You have probably seen our advertisements, flyers and newspaper articles over the last several weeks. YOUR HOUSE IS ON THE ROUTE FOR THE RACE. For those of you living in Danville, the first several miles of the half marathon race will be run past your residence. This race begins at 7:30 am at the corner of Diablo Road and Hartz Avenue and the bulk of the runners should be completely past your residence by approximately 8:15. San Ramon residents along Alcosta Boulevard between Village Parkway and Montevideo should expect the runnersto be in the area of your residence from approximately 8:00 am until 9:00 am Sunday morning. Other San Ramon residents should expect the runners to be in your area from approximately 8:30 am to approximately 9:30 am. Please excuse any inconvenience this may cause you. Traffic will be restricted during the time periods mentioned. If necessary, please make alternative plans for travelling during these limited periods of time and in the areas noted above. The run should also be great fun and exciting to watch. The half marathoners, particularly, need your active support and encouragement. For Alcosta Boulevard residents, the 5K or "fun run" will include a number of school-age children who also need your support and cheers. Please join us Sunday morning in what should prove to be an enjoyable time for all concerned. Following the conclusion of the race you are welcome to join us in the Alcosta Mall shopping center parking lot area where entertainment will be provided to all registered runners. Remember, the Droceeds of this run all go to b~nefit the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation, and ultimately the schools which your children attend.
