A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF DANVILLE
SUPPORTING EFFORTS TO DEVELOP A TRAIL
AND ESTABLISHING TRAIL MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
ON THE SAN RAMON BRANCH OF THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
WHEREAS, the City of Danville supports efforts to establish
a recreational trail on the Southern Pacific Right-of-Way for
bicycle, jogging, equestrian and hiking uses.
WHEREAS, the City of Danville General Plan and Bicycle
Routes Plan indicate that the Southern Pacific Right-of-Way be
used for trails.
WHEREAS, there is broad citizen support for such a trail.
WHEREAS, the East Bay Regional Park Master Plan identifies
the corridor as a major trail element;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Danville
requests that the East Bay Regional Park District coordinate the
overall planning effort for this trail based on District
standards and assume specific trail maintenance of such a trail
when constructed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city of Danville requests
the support of the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
in establishing a multi-use trail in coordination with the East
Bay Regional Park District.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of July, 1985 by
the following vote:
