RESOLUTION NO. 100-83
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DANVILLE SUPPORTING CONTRA
COSTA COUNTY'S PLANS TO ~MEND THE COUNTY'S POOL FENCING ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS THE CITY OF DANVILLE HAS BEEN INFORMED THAT the Board of Supervisors
of Contra Costa County will soon consider an amendment to Chapter 1718-4 of
the County's ordinances relating to the fencing of swimming pools, and
WHEREAS THE INTENT OF THIS ORDINANCE CHANGE is to prevent death and injury
of young children which can be cadsed by the lack of adequate safety fencing
around backyard pools, and
WHEREAS THE CITY OF DANVILLE also has a :responsibility to advise the
public of unsafe conditions which affect its residents and to enact
appropriate ordinances to insure adequate pool safety, and
WHEREAS, theeffect of the County's Ordinance changes would require fencing
between the residence structure and any pool on the property when new
swimming pools are constructed in the future.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Danville
does hereby encourage the County Board of Supervisors to adopt the pro-
posed changes to its Pool Fencing Ordinance, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and City Attorney are directed
to prepare similar revisions to the City's Ordinances for consideration by
the City Council, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that April, 1984, is hereby declared as "Pool Safety
Month" in the City of Danville and that the City Council join with community
groups to develop a pool safety awareness campaign during this month.

ing vote:
