HomeMy WebLinkAbout025-83 Town of Danville 542 San Ramon Valley Boulevard Danville, CA 04526 (415) 820-6337 RESOLUTIC~ 25-83 PROCLAMATION "FEDERATION DAY" WHEREAS, the General Federation of WQ~en's Clubs united over ten million wcxnen in n~re than forty-five countries for the prcmotion of their con~Dn interest in eduation, philanthropy, public welfare, moral values, civics, and fine arts; and WHEREAS, since 1890 Federated Clubs have been instrumental in countless reforms, among th~ the eight-hour working day, the first Federal child labor law, and the Pure Food and Drug Act; and WHEREAS, these Federated Clubs have been vitally interested in betterment of the c~¥~nities, and the countries and their citizens; and WHEREAS, the GFWC California Federation of ~'s Clubs with its 41,323 members and 616 clubs was organized and became a member of the General Federation of Wc~en's ''~ Clubs in 1900 to further the spirit of volunteer services in the cc~munity; and WHEREAS, the GF~] California Federation of Wc~en's Clubs has declared April 24, 1983, as "FEDERATION DAY" to recognize the contributions made to our society through volunteer services; and WHEREAS, the DANVIT.TR WOMEN'S CLUB has been associated with The General Federation of Wcm~n's Clubs since 1939 and has helped prc~Dte better of our camunity and its citizenship; NOW, THEREFORE, I, the Mayor of Danville, do hereby proclaim April 24, 1983, as FEDERATION DAY, and call upon all citizens of Danville to recognize the service given this cc ty by our Federated Clubs and honor th~m. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 4th Day of April, 1983, by the following vote: AYES: Lane, May, Mc Neely, Offenhartz, Schlendorf OS O ABSENT: None ASTEST: City Clerk
