RESOLUTION NO. 58-82
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TttE
CITY OF DANVILLE
INTERIM CITY MANAGER
WHEREAS: The people of Danville voted to form the City of
Danville on June 8, 1982; and,
WHEREAS: Five people of Danville who were formerly called
"citizens" found themselves being called "Councilman", "Council-
woman", "Councilperson" and less worthy epithets beginning in the
wee hours of June 9, 1982 (and continuing to the present time);
and,
WHEREAS: Said City became operative and the "members of the
Council" assumed office three weeks after said election; and
WHEREAS: Said five "members of the Council" collectively
uttered a single cry (e.g. "Now, what do we do?); and,
WHEREAS: Said City was without visible means of financial
support until it was too late; and,
WHEREAS: One George Gaekle heard the Danville cry (all the
way from Modesto) and agreed to take up part-time residence at the
Sycamore Inn; and,
WHEREAS: Mr. Gaekle has served loyally and well as Danville's
interim Town Manager; and
WHEREAS: The accounts all balance and there have been relatively
few calamities since July 1, 1982;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Danville Town Council expresses its heartfelt thanks
and appreciation to George Gaekle for a job well done by conferring
the status upon Mr. Gaekle of "Honorary Danvillian" together with
all the rights and privileges thereo pertaining.
