RESOLUTION NO. 46-82
IN SUPPORT OF CENTRAL COUNTY WASTE
TO ENERGY PROJECT
WHEREAS, Central Contra Costa County generates approximately
900 tons per day of municipal solid wastes that are disposed of
at Acme Landfill; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Central County Waste to Energy
Project would produce electricity from 900 tons per day of
municipal solid wastes and is projected to reduce the amount of
solid waste going into Acme Fill by about one-half, thereby
doubling the remaining life of Acme Fill and reducing the amount
of wastes that would need to be disposed of at a replacement site;
and
WHEREAS, the proposed Central County Waste to Energy Project
is planned to be financed by the private sector, eliminating the
need for funding of capital costs by local government; and
WHEREAS, the economic projections for the project show that
it is the lowest cost alternative for solid waste disposal to
Central Contra Costa County and can be expected to aid the stabili-
zation of solid waste service rates for Central County residents;
WHEREAS, the Central County Waste to Energy Project has been
endorsed by the County Solid Waste Commission and is and is a major
part of the County Solid Waste Management Plan.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Danville hereby
endorses the concept of a Central County Waste to Energy project
and sees the project as beneficial to the citizens of Central
Contra Costa County; and
