A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF DANVILLE
APPROVING SIGN REVIEW REQUEST SR 90-8 AND RELATED SIGN
EXCEPTIONS FOR A SIGN PROGRAM FOR THE SAFEWAY
STORE LOCATED WITHIN THE TASSAJARA
CROSSING SHOPPING CENTER
WI-tE~, Safeway Stores, Inc. has requested approval of a Sign Review request
with Sign Exceptions for a sign program for the Safeway store located within the
Tassajara Crossing shopping center; and
WHEREAS, the subject site is located at the southeast corner of Camino Tassajara
and Crow Canyon Road, and is identified as Assessor's Parcel Number 206-010-010; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did review the project at a noticed public
hearing on April 10, 1990; and
WHE~, the proper notice of this request was given in all respects as required
by law; and
WHEREAS, a staff report was submitted recommending that Planning Commission
conditionally approve, in part, the subject request; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did hear and consider all reports,
recommendations, and testimony submitted in writing and presented at the hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Planning Commission of the Town of
Danville approves in part Sign Review request SR 90-8 per the conditions contained
herein, and makes the following findings in support of the Sign Review request:
1. The proposed project is consistent with the Danville 2005 General Plan.

The proposed signage will not adversely effect the health, or safety of persons
residing or working in the vicinity, or be injurious to property, or improvements
in the area.
The proposed signage is compatible with character and design of the exterior
architecture and existing signage on the structure on which it is proposed to be
located.

The location of the proposed signage will not impair the use of the property or
conflict with visibility.
The proposed signage does not excessively compete for the public's attention nor
impact the use of the property or conflict with visibility.
6. The proposed signage is no larger than necessary for adequate identification.
The proposed signage will serve to primarily identify the business established or
type of activity conducted on the premises.
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
Except as may be modified by the conditions contained herein, the sign program
shall be substantially as shown on the project drawings on file with the Planning
Division by Federal Sign, consisting of 3 sheets, and dated received by the
Planning Division on April 2, 1990.
No signage shall be allowed on the project's south elevation. The proposed "S"
logo sign shall be eliminated.
No signage shall be allowed on the project's east elevation. The proposed
"Safeway Marketplace" sign on this elevation shall be eliminated.
The "Fremont Bank" sign may utilize halo lighting only. The halo lighting shall
be limited to the "Fb" logo portion of the sign only.
A final sign plan reflecting the approved changes shall be submitted for final
review and approval by the Planning Division prior to installation of the signs.
An electrical permit from the Town of Danville Building Department shall be
obtained prior to installation of the signs.
