A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF DANVILLE
APPROVING SIGN REVIEW REQUEST SR 89-24

WHEREAS, The Phillip Smith and Company requested approval of a Sign Program
for the office project located at 318 Diablo Road; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did review the project at a noticed public
hearing on March 27, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the proper notice of this request was given in all respects as required
by law; and
WHEREAS, a staff report was submitted recommending that Planning Commission
approve the request; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did hear and consider all reports,
recommendations, and testimony submitted in writing and presented at the hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Planning Commission of the Town of
Danville approves the Sign Review request SR 89-24, per the conditions contained
herein, and makes the following findings in support of the sign program:
The proposed signage is compatible with character and design of the exterior
architecture and existing signage on the structure on which it is proposed to be
located.
The location of the proposed signage will not impair the use of the property or
conflict with visibility.
The proposed signage will not adversely effect the health, or safety of persons
residing or working in the vicinity, or be injurious to property, or improvements
in the area.
The proposed signage does not excessively compete for the public's attention nor
impact the use of the property or conflict with visibility.
5. The proposed signage is no larger than necessary for adequate identification.
The proposed signage will serve to primarily identify the business established or
type of activity conducted on the premises.

CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
The signage shall be installed in full conformance with the plans dated received
March 23, 1990, on file with the Danville Planning Division, consisting of four
sheets.
No signs shall be internally illuminated. The source of any indirect lighting, if
utilized, shall be screened from view of any public street and shall be installed
in such a manner that glare is directed away from surrounding properties and
right-of-ways. Details of said lighting fixtures and intensity, shall be subject to
review and approval by the Planning Division prior to installation.
The existing soffit light fixtures currently on the building are too harsh and shall
be modified to reduce glare and intensity of lighting. The final lighting solution
shall be subject to review and approval by the Design Review Board and shall
be installed prior to issuance of occupancy permit for the project.
The following sign guidelines for all shingle signs in the project shall be as
follows:
Each shingle sign should be made of raised aluminum letters, not to
exceed 2 1/2" in height for the 10"x 30" shingle sign and 4" high letters
for the three 14" x 60" shingle signs. At the option of the owner, painted
lettering may be utilized on the two story building signage.
The lettering style for each sign may vary, but the color and materials shall
be consistent for all shingle signs on the building and compatible with the
project colors.
Tenant logos shall not be utilized on the shingle signs.
All sign lettering should be equally centered top to bottom on the sign
board.
The Bank of San Ramon Valley wall sign shall be raised aluminum letters and
shall be centered in the wall space to the left of the ATM. The final design and
size of the wall sign shall be subject to review and approval by the Planning
Division.
The project sign program may include a directory sign to be located on the
ground floor by the elevator in the two story building. If a directory is added
to the project, the final design and location of the said directory shall be subject
to review and approval by the Planning Division.

A maximum of three major tenant names (one from each of the three buildings
on the site) and the address of the site may be identified on the monument sign.
Lettering on the monument sign shall be limited to 7 inches in height for the
Bank of San Ramon Valley and 5 1/2 inches for the two other major tenants.
